Join a co-op

Seriously. For a family of four, you should start considering buying local organic foods through a co-op. Start with a market.

I love fresh fruits and have been disgusted with the prices of watermelon and blueberries for example, since gas prices went up.
Thankfully we have a local market and natural foods store just a couple of miles from here. It's about 15% more expensive but the quality is up by about 300%, along with the nutrition, taste and safety.
