It was well done- just because a movie is agonizing to watch doesnt mean it wasnt a good movie- some people dont get that. A good movie makes you FEEL the emotions they are trying to portray- if it is a good movie then it makes you feel a complex array of emotions.... you visualize yourself in the characters position.
Simple minded horror flicks make you feel only one emotion, revulsion.... that isnt art, its just garbage- some movies can portray sheer horror without actually showing it- sometimes graphic violence is required in a movie, for instance would 'Saving Private Ryan' be better if it did not have all that blood and gore? I think all that was required to make it the movie that really moved people. To make them understand what those people went through....
What I find odd, and disturbing, is that sex is more taboo than violence in the movies- I really dont understand that...
If you have a film that includes a man getting his head blown off, That gets you an R rating, maybe PG-13... Now if the film includes a married couple making love and is too detailed it gets an NC-17 or XXX rating- which example is more harmful?

It was an odd movie, very disturbing, but it was a great work of art...
