I've explained this dozens of times, but here goes again: The measures proposed to "deal" with this issue are not without their own serious consequences. Not entirely by coincidence, they are the same measures proposed by the same people for almost every "crisis" in the past half century: Iron control by a powerful central authority over the means of production, trade, and freedom of choice.
"The only loss will be to the oil companies" is inane, and even you must realize that.
