And your solution?

Give me one other solution that doesn't require us all to pick up the tab eventually (other than just leaving really sick people to die on the street which doesn't occur today.) Nobody today is turned away at emergency rooms and it's completely bankrupting the system.

Sure seems that, if you have to pay for care eventually, it would make sense to do more preventative stuff before health gets so bad that drastic and costly measures have to be taken.

As far as your digs about Medicare Tom, I now work in that industry and it is by no means going broke. It actually reduces health care costs dramatically over private insurance plans. There's a huge amount of needless red tape involved in it but that's mostly involved with coordination of benefits with involves determining who picks up the tab for each procedure when there are numerous insurance options for the individual. Universal health care reduces that burden substantially.

And don't even get into the health savings accounts the current administration is touting. The costs of procedures these days that can hit any individual at any time would require most folks to have hundreds of thousands of dollars at their disposal to be prepared for those emergencies. Tell that to someone who has no extra money left over every month after housing and essentials are paid for.

Nope, my guess is your heart is hardened here because your health care needs are taken care of and you could care less about the fate of others that haven't taken your road. I'm sure you just see it all as natural selection.
