It's kinda sad how the appearance of the name "Al Gore" rivets the attention of Wingers, to the exclusion of all other thought. Interesting testimony to Gore's power, and I'm tempted to consider it an endorsement by the Right that Gore just might have the Right Stuff to be President.
But this really isn't about Gore. It's about the idea of two independent candidates for President elevating the level of American political discourse through a genuine debate about issues and ideas, instead of the wholly artifical manufactured consent of our current practice of politicking via slick yet empty marketing campaigns. I'd say that the Liberal champion in this arena is undoubtedly Gore, and I'd hope, gb, that you'd be interested in seeing a Conservative heavyweight thinker go up against him. You surely don't want Gore to be unopposed, do you? That's the danger for Conservatives, because Gore is taking the high road, and you really don't want to miss that train.
