Space/Science » in reply to Space enthusiasts are in 3 camps...

It's not as bad as you think, Raoul.

The head of the Planetary Society actually
approves of Mr. Bush's manned lunar initiative,
and then onward to Mars.
As far as 3 camps?...Maybe it's four or five.
There are those who want to go up into space to make M-O-N-E-Y.
What they want to make money on in space on is a mystery.....to me.
(1) Producing medical drugs like interferon?
(2) Gallium-Arsenide electronic crystals?
(3) ceramic-metal alloys?
(4) foam metals?
(5) Tourism?
IMHO I think tourism is the only one that's financially plausible.

And there are those who want to use space and its resources
for earth's energy needs
i.e., Solar panels covering the moon to transmit needed energy to earth?
Hmmmm.....I'm skeptical.
