Cranking it up
I considered doing that, but the Yachtboy has AM/FM-stereo, ALL the shortwave bands, CB and SSB. And batteries are cheap. However, for it's intended purpose of offshore use and for emergencies, economy with batteries would be nice. I've never run the Grundig dry, but the unit has a reputation for drawing down the batteries fast. Reports I've read say it goes through 6 AAs in about 10 hours, but that was with the speaker (it has a nice mono speaker). Hence my question about the headphones.
