Most portable radios come with a 110 plug attachment, usually a black box that transforms wall current to lower voltage for the radio. Don't overlook the possibility of running an inverter off a car battery to power emergency low-power equipment. It seems silly to convert 12 volt to 110 and back down again, but it's simplest.
