It's just that 9/11 and Al-Quaeda have finally convinced us that religious fundamentalism is non-denominationally lethal, and needs to be countered before it is strong enough to actually do damage. The kind of "displacement" I really fear is the toleration, even encouragement, of domestic evil simply because our foreign enemies are worse.
