exploiting for political gain
I am a conservative by most standards but I am not a politician therefore I cannot gain anything by exploitation.
I have no doubt that many liberal or conservative politicians would shamelessly exploit nearly anything that promised an upper hand, including celebrating a market correction as a political event.
