It's far from being the entire global scientific community...not by a long shot. In fact many of the "technology is evil" doomsayers are now changing their tune. Much of the hysteria driven tabloid media has ignored this so far. The screaming predictions of massive hurricane seasons in 2006 and 2007 (due to man made global warming) were also shown to be hysterical nonsense.
Imagine living on a world so fragile that cow flatulence and a slight increase in CO2 levels would cause it to crash like a house of cards. The fact that life has existed here for 3+ BILLION years seems to contradict the Fragile Earth theory.
