The moderates jump on the bandwagon once it starts moving. The state of nuclear power is a prime example of this. We haven't started construction on a new reactor in decades, not because of moderates, but because of the hysterical ranting of the radicals. A clean plentiful source of energy was demonized by the scare tactics of luddites.
IMO, the whole global warming scam is a repeat of the hatchet job done on nuclear power. The science showing that nuclear power was safe was damned as being propaganda of the nuclear industry, while the hysteria of the fringe was trumpeted by the media as being written in stone by Gaia herself. Methane from cows and CO2 from cars is no more harmful than the "radioactive spill" from the Japanese power plant several weeks ago. Just another example of tabloid sensationalism pumped out to scare the masses into following the radical environmental piper to some socialist utopia.
