In Situ Is Easy On Mars

Taking in atmospheric CO2 and reacting it with H2 shipped to Mars is easy and could be done with existing technology. Getting the H2 on Mars is probably only slightly harder. It wouldn't serve well for a mission of exploration, but could probably be an up and running process within a few months of establishing a base on Mars. The base would have to be near a source of ice that is easy to reach and then existing electrolysis technology could be used to convert it into H2 for fuel and O2 for breathing.
