"[blockguote] So obviously, if the Antarctic launch infrastrcture were to cost around 2 billion and it was LOWER the delta-v cost to all orbit by around 20%,[/blockquote]
Excuse me, but do you understand about the Equator, rotation of the Earth, and orbital velocity as a radial vector? If not, please find a large bucket of water and practice gargling today... "
I was replying to dtb's "thought experiment". Which asked the question: "how much lower would the delta-v to orbit have to be at the south pole in order to make up for all the added hassles of launching from the middle of Antarctica?"
My answer was that the delta-v to orbit would *have to be* about 20% lower. This is quite different from saying that delta-v to orbit from Antarctic *is* 20% lower.
