I'd been kind of hoping people would see the larger picture.

Other people have already covered Sanchez's views on the war in other posts here. This isn't Sanchez's first complaint about the war this year. Nor is he the only former military leader to complain about it. Other former military leaders support it. That's news, but hardly earthshaking. After a year of retirement, I suspect at this point I know almost as much about what's going on in Iraq in recent months as Sanchez does, so while his opinion on how things were handled while he was in command is highly significant, his views on how the war is going now are arguable.

What I had been hoping people would see as the take-away message of my particular post was his view of the media cooking the news, and the astounding irony of the media stripping that part entirely away before presenting its own tilt on the story.

Not that many years ago, you would never have heard a single thing about the first part of that speech. Ever. If it wasn't for the alternative media, I wouldn't have either.

Multiply that by every important issue that's made news over the past few decades.
