I have had it up to here with websites that have so much frigging CRAP on them that the actual information is lost in the noise. These aren't amateur or blogging sites, either, but mainstream news sites and others.
I have to sit and wait while not only the text loads, but six dozen ads (half of them with their own animations), movie links, cute moving gadgets, sparkly add-ons, things that activate or play music when your mouse simply passes over them, and other things that add to the general carnival atmosphere. Try to move down the page too quick, and IE loses its grip, giving me the message seen above. I have to reload and sit with my hands folded until it's done.
Some news sites have also taken it into their heads to make many words in the article itself "active," i.e. if your mouse passes close to one, a pop-up link appears with a microscopic unreadable picture of the link, a definition of the word, or in some cases, some ad related to the word. Goodbye scroll wheel, hello scroll bar to read something.
Some site is going to figure out that people might actually pay money for a bullshit-free look at the raw data, and will get stinking rich.
