Why are you using IE?
I know there's a few sites that require it but Firefox so excels in Web browsing for all the rest. They have an add-on called No-script which gives you complete control of any site that wants to run scripts on the page. With only the main page allowed, things pop up very fast. I also require it to ask me if I want cookies installed. You'd be amazed at how many want to embed themselves. Without them many of the extras don't want to run.
