She stated outright they are not taking patients WITHOUT health insurance. I'm going to try again Monday and hope I get another secretary, because next in line is a letter...to someone. Just talked to the billing dept. of the local hospital and they've never heard of it.

Anyhow, I've figured out the next step that remedies the problem.
