He managed to evade prosecution by having a group of his subordinates take the full rap for a crime statistics cooking scheme which made him look like a no-nonsense, take-no-prisoners crime fighter. But his luck eventually ran out when the state's attorney's office busted him on using his office and department resources to back his own private security firm to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. The whole scam started to unravel when he was caught using his secretary's bank account to disguise transfers of massive amounts of cash to and from his business to avoid taxes. He was given a sweetheart deal, allowed to resign rather than get busted while in office, so his pension and benefits are safe. But he was last seen turning himself in to the state authorities. He will probaby do some jail time.
You conservatives will be relieved to hear he was a Democrat.
