re: Actually Techie

I call it like I see it. AZ pops out a lot of religious conservatives.

And Art, if this place ever does get a search function, you would be able to go back to my anti-Fundamentalist, anti-Christian posts, which must number in the dozens and date back to the late 1990s. I'm not a Christian, have never owned a cross, unless a slide-rule applies. Mary Anne and I agreed on the cross getting off public land on Mount Soledad, one of our few agreements, asides from a penchant for books.

Yet, here it is the left looking forward to the death of seniors to bring about political change. Even if in jest, and it really isn't, that's a pretty horrifying & disturbing moral code in itself.

Having a direct comparison between CA and AZ, I can say without hesitation that the AZ religious machine is five-hundred times its equivalent in CA. I say this as someone who does not support religion - it's just a fact. I'd never seen churches the size of shopping malls until arriving out here. The money to build edifices to religion such could never be supported by the small religious groups in CA.

I'm the first to agree that spirituality is found within, not within a building, but out here the numbers paint a different picture. And sure there may be pockets of Arizona, that lean left - but it's more an economic left than a 'social issues' left, just as it is with the Indian reservations.

Time will tell. I still predict AZ, NM, TX & CA will eventually mimic Mexico, not only in population but in politics. And any conservative or liberal merely needs to study Mexican politics to see what a dismal, corrupt and violent southwestern empire will be forthcoming in the latter part of the 21st century. Neither the GOP or the Democrats will survive in these regions. A new party will surely emerge with pro-Mexico interests. Secession is even projected as a possibility sometime in the 22nd century. Unless the border is locked down, and possibly even then, the numbers makes such a future simply inevitable.

The political parties today only think of next year - not next century. But that's the problem with ALL politicians - they're first and foremost about self-interest.
