"The folks who like Dick, Scott and all those who enjoy this and the director's cut get a high out of sadism, violence and perversion. They may not even realize why they like it. The human psyche buries these motivations deeply."
So, people who like a certain type of movie that you don't like have a certain pathological element in their psyche, which by extension, means that you do not have it in your mental makeup. Further, this is obvious to you, even though those afflicted with this malady you have assigned to them cannot see it in themselves because their inferior mind buries it, while your keen and incisive intellect clearly discerns it.
"Once one truly has evolved past these human "needs", one sees them in a different light and what was "enjoyable" or even simply "passable" becomes odious and unconscionable."
So you are the highly evolved being and the rest of us brutish and toxic primates?
"Don't tell that to Hollywood and the video game makers though - there's way too much money in feeding folks inner demons."
Hey, no ones's putting a gun to their heads and making them go see the movie....Making movies is a business. Surely you, of all people, understand that.
Have you ever before in your life heard such magnificent horseshit?
The reason you don't like Blade Runner is because the artist has successfully depicted the kind of world that will inevitably result from the policies you favor, and he has cleverly communicated that subliminally to millions of people who will now recognize it and resist it, and those who think like you. This is why you are so afraid of the artist and resent him so ferociously. It's the fear of being discovered, the panic of being recognized behind your mask.
You understand that is precisely the role of the artist, to communicate his version of reality to the collective subconscious, to unmask the demon, and it is both a vision and a warning. Your vision, your reality, is vanishing like a bad dream, unable to hide its inherent corruption and contradictions and incapable of fulfilling its promises. You're intelligent enough to recognize this, but you lack the mental capacity, emotional sophistication and moral force to stop it.
Happy Halloween!
