That's why Princes have to be very picky. ;-)

No one wants to marry a witch (or something that rhymes with it) posing as a distraught Cinderella.

Most guys who marry the first pretty girl they see find that one out for themselves. The most forgotten aspect of Cinderella is that her step family was cut from different cloth. Too many just see it as a "rags to riches" story when it is really a "riches to rags to riches" story.

Cinderella is really a tale about marrying within one's own station. If that aspect was emphasized, the tale would be FAR less popular with the masses, who have reinvented to signify that for every underprivileged girl there is a Prince Charming. No, Prince Charming went straight to the aristocracy for his bride. Marrying within one's station leads to happiness. Marry out of your station, like Cinderella's father did (le gold-digger) when he remarried? You bring death to yourself and misery to your children. It's actually a scathing condemnation of the middle and lower classes.

The dumb Frog in this story obviously didn't watch closely enough at the princess as she tormented the fish in the unpolluted pond with a stick. Serves him right for being so undiscriminating.
