Magellan.

My first GPS was a Magellan unit, I don't remember the model number. The cheapest I could find it was $380 at the time, when a dollar was still about 28 cents.

It was impossible. Took forever to initialize, directions were confusing, and it was slow. Beyond slow. The first day I had it I put it on the top of the car to initialize, as it too so long, and came back in the house. Decided to go to the store, and you guessed it. Drove off with it on top of the car, remembered it only as I drove back in the driveway.

It was gone, alone with the 512mb microchip.

Looked, but after sulking for a while I decided that was the best thing to happen. Didn't have to try to get 'em to take it back, wasn't tempted to keep it and cuss for 5 years, no decisions.

Got the Garmin the next day, haven't regretted it.
