What I really wanted when I was a kid...
A flying submarine car! Or more like a flying submarine RV (big enough to live in). I snapped up everything in fiction remotely like this. "Supercar" was cool, but no bigger than a regular car.
I outfitted my plastic model of the Flying Submarine with bunks and a galley.
I read a "Classics Illustrated" version of Jules Verne's obscure "Master of the World," which had such a vehicle in it, but when I was a kid, you couldn't find the real book for love or money. Nowadays, of course, like many old books, it's free on the internet.
Of course, now that I'm older and more sophisticated, so are my ideas of the ideal way to travel the world.
