Why go to the movies
I would guess the majority of moviegoers would side with Art and Tony, in that they want to be entertained, to feel good during and after the show.
But not all movies are made with that in mind. This doesn't make them less good, just different.
Last movie I saw was Into the Wild, the true story of Chris McCandless, based on the book by Jon Krakauer.
Often moving, all thought provoking, but not cheery and no "satisfying" ending.
Don't get me wrong, I love entertaining movies - can't wait for "The Hobbit" - but an occasional dose of thought provocation is OK too.
