I also put something on Flame if I think it's going to lead to a knock-down, drag-out. I don't think this thread quite fits that bill, but it's kind of a subjective judgment.

I don't consider "wingers" that much of an insult, myself. Most labels aren't all that exact and it's hard to come up with something that's accurate and still less than fifty words. I've had a jolly time trying to pin down "liberal" myself.

The fact is that politics is a lot like the expanding universe. No matter where you look at the galaxies and stars, it seems like you're in the center. Almost everyone looks at where they're standing on the political spectrum, and firmly believe they're standing right in the center. A remarkable number of people who are actually on one end of the spectrum have convinced themselves that they are still in the center, and that the spectrum has only one side stretching away from them in the wrong direction.
