re: Your point's a bit opaque

At least in terms of facts, although I understand the usual implication that because there's a majority of Democrats on the Committee, any conclusion it reaches must be false. You might remember that prior to the 2006 changeover, there was a majority of Republicans, a fact of equal significance, I'm sure.

Sure. One major point of getting a majority in Congress is to gain control of these committees and freeze out the minority. I have no illusions about the fact that the Republicans played the power game equally enthusiastically back when they were in power, and the Democrats probably didn't have website links either.

Please don't ascribe any wondrous civic virtues to Waxman. The man is a pit bull, about a parsec to the left of even Hillary Clinton. His sole job right now is the destruction of Bush and the Republicans using endless investigations on everything but the kitchen sink. Browse the committee website for a while. See anything even remotely related to a Democrat on the target list?

Did the Republicans avoid investigating Republicans when they were in power? Hell, yes. But if Hillary wins next year, and the Democrats are still in charge in Congress, you'll find the number of inquiries into the executive branch dropping like a rock, and Waxman investigating things like the species diversity of squirrels in the Washington parks.

This is called "politics as usual."
