Your observations would be flawed.

I consider myself a progressive, although with a different meaning than that currently in vogue.

I support an aggressive space policy, and think that it is Humanity's birthright to expand into the Cosmos.

I whole heartedly support genetic research and engineering. The collective genome is our civilization's greatest heirloom to future generations. We should do our utmost to leave it in better shape than we found it. A sound eugenics policy should be on the minds of every good citizen.

I support a culture where learning and achievement are at the core of its values. Being the best that one can be should be instilled into every child from birth. A society is only as strong as its weakest link, so it is up to each person to be as strong, healthy, and productive as possible. Several Asian cultures have taken this philosophy to heart and as a result have risen to great heights. The West has largely forgotten this idea and is sinking into an era of mediocrity and turmoil. This lack of vision, purpose, and belief in ourselves and our traditions will be our undoing.

So you see, I do believe in new ideas and progress. It's just that change for the sake of change is something I don't agree with. It should have a clear purpose and reason, and be built upon a sound foundation.
