You really don't get it

Yes, I do say I think there is life beyond Earth, based on
certain scientific findings such as moons in our Solar System
which have the potential to be friendlier to life than once
thought, the creatures found on this planet that life in
conditions and environments that we once thought were
too harsh for life, and the discovery of hundreds of planets
around other stars.

This evidence still does not mean there is extraterrestrial life,
nor do we have proof of such as yet. Until then it is just a
theory. If it turns out that there is no life elsewhere (which
will be quite hard to do and take a very long time, if ever),
then I will accept those scientific findings even though my
"gut" tells me otherwise. The Universe does not operate the
way I wish it would.

I don't make fun of UFO reports - at least I think I am far
more restrained than others. But if you equate not buying
into every person with a story as making fun of them, then
that is your issue. You continue to drag this down into an
emotional battle, which only avoids the real issues of where
is the evidence beyond a few reported sightings.

This Texas UFO story - yes, a bunch of people say they saw
something unusual in the sky. They probably did and none of
them seem to be either liars or unstable. But did they see an
alien spacecraft? From their descriptions, it could just as
easily be a new military craft being tested and the USAF is
not going to release that data. Did you know the CIA and
KGB used to love having their secret aircraft and rocket tests
reported as UFOs to throw off the other side so they would
dismiss such reports?

I am still surprised that no one has gotten any images of
this UFO, though of course no one in this case was expecting
to see such a thing. I will even buy into the idea that some
of them may have been so surprised that they didn't think to
grab their cell phones to get some images.

Of course now I am sure folks all over Texas are looking up
(too bad it isn't to do some actual astronomy instead) and
we will probably see some images soon enough.

Another note - one guy described the craft as being over
one mile across! Going beyond the fact of how do only a
few people see something that huge in the sky, how did he
determine the size of it? This is the other issue of UFO
reports, the unreliability of eye witnesses, most of whom
never bother to check out the sky.
