Good advice
If anything, a smart investor right now should be delighting in seeing huge swings in the market which is the sign of emotion driven economics instead of logic.
With panic selling comes great bargains. Over the last year I've moved much of my retirement assets into the safer areas in anticipation of this type of day. When it feels like it's bottomed I'll probably move some back.
