re: Life began in Ice...
There appear to be lots of potential places for the precursors to life to arise; interstellar dust grains, comets, geothermal vents, tide pools, shallow seas, and now, ice. Even if only one of of these is eventually shown to be the cause, all of these life-friendly environments tend to suggest that the universe is somehow predisposed for organic life.
