Unholy alliance update

I totally agree that biofuels are an ill-considered lefty crusade, from a technical point of view it can't work. It's a political feelgood fantasy with no net energy savings designed primarily for making people feel like something worthwhile is being done about a real problem.

But it is private enterprise who will ultimately benefit from the new markets and government subsidies generated by it. Once the farmers, grain brokers and agribusiness interests and their legislators and governors hop on board, the rest of the righties will fall right into line. This is classic corporate welfare. Follow the money. A lot of Greens are already hip to this scam, although they are attacking it from the point of view of diverting food away from hungry people to automobiles and their owners.

Either way, corn winds up in pork. I look forward to a very bi-partisan panderfest, what our politicians love to call, "working together across the aisle for the common good".
