National pride and patriotism should be something a nation earns by its ideals and principles, not something that is reflexive and based on externalities like geography, language or color. Same for reflexive hostility to a country--such opposition should be based on facts, not habits.
Globalism is no more of a primary value than nationalism is. Again, it depends on what the values, culture and principles of the global organizations are. Reflexive support of the U.N. is no more valid than reflexive support of a country.
Along those lines, I don't believe the U.N. in its current form, with its current values and ideas, has earned the right to claim any kind of support for a leadership role in global government. Neither has the E.U.
