How about admitting: "We don't know"...and search from there
If we have a preconceived idea, a faith about something we desperately want to find, aren't we going to alter what is found and skip what had been found and believed unimportant ?
"I don't know" doesn't mean "I don't want to know" but "I accept I don't have the answer and keep an open mind about it".
