re: So why does a Mazda Miata get a fifth of the mpg?

For starters, a Miata doesn't take 20 seconds to get to 63 mph.

The Loremo is 151 inches long and weighs a bit over 200 pounds. A Mazda MX-5 Miata is only six inches longer, but weighs ten times that.

The Loremo is a motorized roller skate, only one of many such that makes the news over the years for spectacular mileage. It's a cool little car, but it isn't going to turn the transportation world upside down.

Here's a shot of the Loremo next to an actual person. It is likely this particular person is not exactly six feet tall, either.
