Lee is more hideously insensitive than a racist. I have seen him use the n word and I have seen him speak out for a homogeneous society but I have never seen him post anything that would come close to being a hate crime. Much of his shtick is for shock value in this forum.

He is from Tennesee and like Alabama and Texas there are few days he doesn't hear the n word used. I have taught my children and grandchildren that racial slurs are wrong and they don't hear them in my home.

I have tried to teach them the difference in skin color and worthlessness and they tend to be biased against ignorant white red neck criminals as well as criminals of other races. Still, it is difficult to empathize with criminals and when the ratios are what they are in the South, it is hard to stay on an even keel. In spite of my best efforts I also occasionally see racial tension in my family. Those who live in other circumstances might say we should get away from it. I suppose so, but it is complicated.

We brought it on ourselves with the years of Jim Crow, the ignorance, the crime, and worst of all, the counter culture. We just have to live through it and work it out. It is far better than it once was but we have far to go.
