The transportation issue doesn't bother me as much as the safety/security of the reprocessing facility and waste products.

The transportation system can be safeguarded... No doubt terrrorists will make attempts just as bank robbers target banks and armord vehicles... However, multiple layers of safeguards and security can be designed which would virtually insure no "accidents" during transportation.

It would begin with a secure container system. Other than that, the transportation wouldn't need to be any different than that surrounding nuclear bombs, or other highly classified movements.

The politicians with their not in my back yard mentality, have made it so that we have the waste sitting in our back yards all over the country.

They need to assign the project to a commission (similar to the base re-allignment commissions) and vote up or down on their recomendations.

We really lack any leadership on this issue.

In the meantime, our economy, security, and future are all being sidetracked by their failure to do their job.

The Federal govenment needs to force the issue, and Nevada complaints not withstanding: Open Yucka (sp?) Mountain yesterday.
