I'm no happier about earmarks than you are, and readily concede that Republicans suck just as bad, or even worse when they're in power, on that issue.
But this is not the main fiscal, tax, or deficit issue we face in the future. Nor is it defense spending. It's entitlements.
The rest of it, including earmarks, are almost lost in the noise. You're debating the cost of whitewall tires on a Lamborghini as though it was the critical price issue in paying for the car.
