"Interesting... So, you are saying that killing 10's of thousands of Iraqi's so that a theoretical 'many' can be theoretically 'safer' is immoral- right?"
Yes correct- but even killing one Iraqi would be so.
Or poking an Iraqi in the eye, or kicking him/her in the shuns. Or taking an Iraqi's lunch money. Or insulting his mother.
"I also must assume that you are also a strong and vocal opponent of the death penalty, right?"
No, you are incorrect.
"I must assume the above, because the alternative is to assume that you are an ignorant, shallow, immoral person who is incapable of seeing the inherent contradictions between what he supports and what he claims to be his own personal morality..."
But you must assume many things which are incorrect. Though your last statement is merely your lame excuse at being insulting and therefore it wouldn't be "fair" to regard it as a rational statement.
"Of course it is odd that you follow the above statement with "I would be happy to kill any scientist or doctor that actually thinks they have a right to harm or murder humans [and of course, acts on this belief] in the name of science or "progress".
wouldnt that be "Killing a fewer people for the sake of a theoretical many"?
You really dont see any contradictions here, do you?"
This a quite simple stuff. The only wonder is how you manage to live your life without understanding it.
So, say, someone threats to kill you.
Or forget threatens. He doesn't say anything, but you see him with gun aiming it at you. And there are apparently already 3 dead people on the ground which fell there after gun shot sounds.
What do you do?
Now, before you do anything effective like, pee your pants. Some bible clinging, gun loving, bitter person, puts a bullet thru the guy's head.
Are you then happy the guy is dead?
I assume apparently, not.
But suppose you couldn't help yourself and for some strange reason you were happy- would you then be committing some secular sin or violating some doctrine of science?
Now, you may or may not be happier if the murderer had failed to kill anyone, say, he shot them but they all recovered in the hospital.
It might cause you wonder whether the person attempting to murder but managed to only to wound 3 people, deserves the fate of some bitter, bible touting, gun lover killing him- after all the math is 1 to 0.
And such "unfairness" may creep into consciousness, tormenting you for the rest of your undeserved life.

- AU, contraire. Morality should be guided by science...
- Science itself? No.
- Science should not be guided by morality.
- Which morality? Whose? Regarding what?
- And: Should morality be guided by science?
