In Polynesian societys it was usual for an older family member to introduce the females to sex. And no one thought anything about it. Everyone was raised with that as the norm.
In many countries of the world sex is regarded as a normal human function and engaged in and enjoyed as such. Americans, probably because of their religious heritage, are extremely uptight and afraid of it.
I'm not saying there wasn't abuse, and I personally don't approve of what they were doing. But it was a closed society with it's own norms and standards which were infused in all of 'em since birth. And not only was it their societal norm but the expectation of their religion. Judging them by other standards isn't quite fair.
And dragging small children away from their mothers, without hearing or trial, is Texan, to say the least.

It's mostly society's additude which is the problem.
