Around my neck of the woods, pseudo-coffees are all about chicory.
It's kind of like carob instead of chocolate. It clues people in on how hip you are. As for me, you can keep all the high-class blends. I like Folgers, and the best coffee I've ever had was the stuff from the gas station stores on the all-night drives to and from Mojave.
