This is what countries do. ALL countries. Throughout history. And the ones that get away with it are hated by those who are inept at it. If my country wasn't doing this I would be disappointed and upset, because the alternative to this is major all-out war which is even more deadly and destructive.

If the United States is using clandestine and covert actions to ensure our prosperity and security, then that's fine by me, 'cuz the other guys are trying to do it to us all the time. Where I draw the line is where this activity is carried out for the private benefit of corporations and individuals, and not for the benefit of the nation as a whole. If you want to dominate Central America to stop Communism, fine. But don't do it because some banana company contributes to your political campaign or because you suspect there might be oil offshore. And then, don't insult my intelligence by telling me you're doing it all for freedom and democracy.
