Most every dirty deed is hidden under National Security or archives that can't be opened for 25 years.
Investigations are opened, only to be squelched, whistleblowers attacked and gagged, and the ugliest goes on a media lockdown. Information on Operation George Orwell and Operation Watchtower IS available now on the web, but 20 years ago was considered a hot potato and the main investigative reporter covering the story was murdered. The people who knew about it were under electronic surveillance as well and it was conveniently nullified at the time of Danny Casalero's death.
60 minutes was approached at the time, but even they wouldn't touch it.
Kinda hard to lock up the perpetraitors or even bring up charges this far along, eh?
People don't care. Look at Oliver North, a hero with his own TV show.
That's the American way. Get used to it.
