My point is merely that had the Democrats not won Rumsfeld would never have been fired and Bush would never have been forced to come up with a new strategy. Sure the Democrats called for withdrawl. And Rumsfeld called for doing nothing different because to change would make him look bad. To McCain's credit the strategy he proposed seems to be the one we should have done long ago. The 4 year Bush-Rumsfeld strategy will go down in military history as a textbook case of how NOT to handle the aftermath of an invasion.
