While the great Common Wisdom declares that America was popular and loved until the evil Bush came along, anybody who's my age knows better.
This isn't about a president. It's about bitterness and envy, and, in my opinion, the deep subconscious knowledge that a country like Belgium could vanish in a puff of purple smoke and nobody would notice it for a month.
Small wonder they support a candidate with a European view of America: socialist economics, non-confrontation and appeasement of adversaries, and the firm belief that America is not exceptional among nations, and more importantly, doesn't deserve to be.
An America permanently on its knees has been a long-time fantasy of the U.N. mentalities around the world.
And listen to Obama talking about our country, where apparently nobody has a chance without the almighty State.
...European to the bone.
Somewhat more complex thoughts on this subject here.
Flame » in reply to European bewails that they can't vote in our election
It's a little more than seven years.
The whole thread (23 posts)
- European bewails that they can't vote in our election
- GOP bewails that they can't run the entire world and tell the rest of humanity to go to hell
- #1 - I didn't notice any "bewailing" or wanting to vote in the US.
- European bewails that they can't vote in our election
- And this is significant....why?
- Same was said about Kerry
- It's an interesting reflection on your mindset that you lump our allies in Europe with our adversaries elsewhere...
