Still, after months of listening to people telling me we were going to be in soup lines any day now, and to start stockpiling food and water, a little perspective wouldn't hurt.

Do a little research and find out where most of that Iraq War money actually ended up. Hint: it wasn't Iraq. Ironically, the military spending probably ended up artificially propping up some of our employment and economic numbers.
