But here is MY take.

I have absolutely no faith in anything or anyone. Yes, the bottom line is money...always..because power/money is interchangeable.

THE ONLY WAY to get consumers to change the paradigm of fuel consumption is to hit them whar it B hurtin' the most...in their pockets....SOMEONE who is in charge somwhere is puttin' the screws to us to force our hand at alternative fuel sources....

Sorta like Pearl Harbor...Roosevelt knew the only way to get us into the Japanese theater was if it affected us personally....
and maybe even 9/11...
