Given that there are so many approaches that can be used to explore the fine structure constant...

I am hopeful that this can be resolved soon.

The study linked to above looked at transitions in atomic dysprosium... not nuclear decay, there are other spectroscopic methods that could be used, and other methods that look at the behavior of single electrons..... many methods are available.
