I never thought Bill Clinton was qualified as Governor of Arkansas.
He wasn't. The first 120 days demonstrated that fully. He grew into the job.
Quayle had zip executive experience. Ford was nothing to write home about. Lyndon B. Johnson was a drunk and a bully. But Kennedy picked him because he knew LBJ wasn't really qualified either. Presidents don't like to be overshadowed by their VPs. They want their picks to be grateful. Hillary wasn't going to be grateful she would be a huge overshadowing influence. Quayle was grateful. Ford wanted Reagan, but Reagan was too ambitious. Reagan was like Hillary only in the sense that he knew he had a real chance at the Oval Office by himself.
McCain didn't want to pick a Romney or a Huckabee - or someone who would not be grateful but overly ambitious. He picked Palin.
Palin IS grateful. She will be loyal to McCain. That's the most important thing a President want's from their VP.
By the time a Palin Presidency arrives - she will be more than up to the task of leading. Running for President is like going to school 24/7.
Her learning curve from the moment she gave her speech at the GOP convention will be right off the charts.
Let's see how well she does in just a few weeks. She will have enough time to get up to speed and be a policy-wonk by the time of her and McCain's inauguration.
