It has nothing to do with partisanship on this issue. I'm a First Amendment fangirl.
Censorship, including attempts at censorship, is dangerous enough without embellishments and falsehoods. The latter two take away from the seriousness of the former.
Censorship attempts from my own side of the fence drive me even more crazy. I can't blame them on religious derangement, so they have to come from a poisonous combination of self-righteousness and stupidity. Oh, wait... that is religious derangement...
